Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is surgery/operation done to correct the deformities following full-term pregnancy(s). It is basically a two-step procedure: 1) repair of the stretched wall (muscle and attachments) of the abdomen, and 2) removal of the overstretched skin below the belly button (generally ravaged by stretch marks).

Because of the extensive nature of the procedure, it is done under general anesthesia with hospital recovery anywhere from 1 to 7 days depending upon the wishes of the patient.

Tummy tuck gets confused oftentimes with liposuction. The two procedures have totally different indications (purpose).
